Bode Hidalgo is out with a long-term groin injury. Wiki Carmona and Josh-Duc Nteziryayo are also missing due to lower-body injuries. Owen Graham-Roache is on international duty with Canada Under-20s at the Concacaf U20 Championship. Thomas Gillier is also missing due to a concussion.

Tadeo Allende will be missing with a knee injury. The Herons will also be without Lionel Messi and Rodrigo de Paul, who are on a break after reaching the World Cup final with Argentina. David Ayala, Maximiliano Falcón and Gonzalo Luján are all out due to strains. Santiago Morales and Alexander Shaw are with the USA U20s at the Concacaf U20 Championship.

Inter Miami are the clear favorites as they are second in the Eastern Conference and have won their last six matches. They may not have Messi available right now, but Luis Suárez managed to bag a brace in their 3-2 win over the Chicago Fire this week. This was a big win, especially as it was Robert Lewandowski's debut for the Fire.

Montréal has not won in its last five matches and suffered a 1-0 defeat to Nashville this week. L'Impact is as low as 13th in the Eastern Conference. Montréal's last victory came against Orlando City in May. Coincidentally, Orlando was also the last team to defeat Miami.

The Canadian side has been very inconsistent recently. They have not scored in their last two games, but did play out a 4-4 draw with D.C. United before that. Other teams are adding more star names to their rosters, such as Lewandowski and Casemiro. However, Montréal is getting left behind on that front. Their most notable player is probably former Newcastle United midfielder Matty Longstaff. However, they have never really been a club that has signed star names. This is barring Didier Drogba's stint at the club in 2015/16.

Miami trails Nashville by five points, and the two sides meet on Aug. 16. The Herons have the momentum to overtake Nashville. Guillermo Hoyos's side will also be keen to show that they can still win games despite missing Messi and De Paul. I expect that the Herons will defeat Montréal 2-0.
