The 25-year-old defender signs with the Herons on a one-year loan, with an option to make it permanent at the end of the season.
The Brazilian joins Inter Miami at an exciting time.
Not only are the Herons the reigning MLS Cup champions, but their lofty goal of winning the CONCACAF Champions Cup this year is widely known.
Defensively, Micael will slot in as a left-sided center back, pairing nicely with either Maximiliano Falcón, Ian Fray, Gonzalo Lujan, or Tomas Avilés.
According to FBRef, the 6'3” defender excels in tackles, winning clearances and aerial duels, making him a strong defensive presence in the air.
Additionally, the Brazilian has a high pass completion percentage and ranks in the 86th percentile of progressive carries, suggesting that he’s also quite comfortable with the ball at his feet, as he is in defense.
Ultimately, signing Micael gives Miami another option on the left side of defense.
With Academy product Noah Allen being the only left-footed center half, Micael’s addition to the squad is much needed from a roster-building perspective.
