Inter Miami find out opponents for Club World Cup
FC PORTO – Portugal
The biggest name and probably the favourites to advance to the next round from this group, FC Porto have always been a big name in European football. The Dragons were formed on September 28th 1893 and currently play at the Estádio do Dragão. They have won an outstanding 30 top flight Portuguese titles, only bettered by Benfica, and have won 20 ‘Taça de Portugal’s’ (the domestic cup competition in Portugal). Again only bettered by Benfica.
They have twice became champions of Europe, in 1986/87 under Artur Jorge, where they came from behind against German giants Bayern Munich to win 2-1 in Vienna, and then once again in 2003/04 under a certain young Jose Mourinho, where they thrashed AS Monaco 3-0 in which is now known as the Veltins-Arena, in Gelsenkirchen.
The home of FC Schalke 04. Guys like Ricardo Carvalho and Paulo Ferreira, who Mourinho brought with him to Chelsea that summer were part of the side. Their current squad is definitely not all bad though, with players like Samu Aghehowa and Diogo Costa ones to watch out for next summer. The club play their home games in royal blue and white striped shirts, royal blue shorts and white socks.
