Coming off the back of a historic season that saw the World Cup winner tally up 43G/25A in all competitions and win MLS Cup, it was only a matter of time before the 38-year-old was given the award.
"Well, first of all, I'm extremely grateful for this recognition."
"In fact, it's always nice to receive individual awards. But of course, I want to share it with my teammates, because I also won the Golden Boot award, and that's thanks to all of their help," Messi said about receiving the award.
"I'm so happy to have received this award, and to be the first in the history of this competition to win it two years in a row, and I'm extremely grateful for that."
With the offseason in full swing, and Inter Miami set to retool for a chance to win the 2026 Champions Cup, the ex-Barcelona man doesn't look like he'll be slowing down anytime soon.
