4) Christian Benteke – D.C United

You might be reading this part with a raised eyebrow, yes this is the same player that had spells at Aston Villa, Liverpool and Crystal Palace all in England. The Belgian, now 33, was the top scorer in the MLS campaign with 23, (and only 3 penalties) for a very underperforming side that came outside of a play-off place and finished 10th in the Easter Conference, so to still put up the number of goals he did with a lot smaller service than some of the other club’s strikers deserves to be recognised.

The player that scores the most goals isn’t always the best player, but it sure deserves a mention, at the end of the day, the most important thing in football is to score goals! Benteke also managed to win an incredible 72% of his aerial duels, which you might not be surprised to hear, as it was something he has thrived with throughout his career!
