After three straight attempts, Inter Miami has once again struggled to get its first home win at the Nu Stadium, drawing 1-1 with the New England Revolution.
Despite the team’s impeccable away record, with only one loss, the Herons have continued to struggle at home.
This match against the Revs was no different.
Though the squad started on a positive note, with German Berterame, Luis Suarez, and Lionel Messi combining well and with fluidity, Miami couldn’t quite find the back of the net thanks to Matt Turner's heroics on the opposite end.
It took until the 76th minute, after the Revs opened the scoring up 20 minutes earlier, for Miami to finally get something on the board.
With Miami’s next match at home being against rivals Orlando City, a win is certainly on the cards for the men in pink.
Here are Player Ratings from Miami’s 1-1 draw vs the Revs.
*I’ll rate every player on a scale of 1 to 10, with 5-6 being average/below average. For the substitutes, I’ll judge accordingly. *
Goalkeeping/Defense:
Dayne St. Clair - 7: Had several good saves that kept Miami in the game.
Noah Allen - 6.5: Though he did well as a wide midfielder/wing back, unfortunately, his game was cut short due to some wonky substitutions by the manager.
Micael - 6.8: Another good game. Had a few moments that left more to be desired, but didn’t make any glaring mistakes.
Maxi Falcon - 6.5: Like Micael, Falcon didn’t have any game-changing mistakes, but there were a few times where his positioning could’ve been better.
Gonzalo Lujan - 6.3: I like this back three. In the first half, Miami was quite stable and looked a bit more sound defensively. As I alluded to with Noah Allen’s blurb, taking off a central defender messed up Miami’s balance, which killed their attack.
Facundo Mura - 6.6: Just keep the back three…please.
Midfield
David Ruiz - 6: Looked solid, but left some things to be desired! Did well in Yannick Bright’s absence, though!
Rodrigo De Paul - 6.8: Better game from the World Cup winner! Ended the match with five opportunities created, which was the most out of anyone on the field. Messi was second with four.
Attack
Luis Suarez - 7: Dare I say, he’s earned his starting job? So long as he can create and combine with Messi and Berterame, I don’t see his inclusion as a bad thing.
Lionel Messi - 7.9: Messi rarely ever gets “bad grades” on here, and even tonight, though he didn’t score or assist, he was everywhere making things happen.
German Berterame - 8: Glad to see him scoring with ease now!
Substitutes:
Tadeo Allende 6.7: Shame about his goal being offside, but besides that, his pace was much needed to run at New England’s backline.
Preston Plambeck - 6.3: Looked solid in the minimal time he was out there!
Ian Fray - 6.5: Hopefully, he can get more playing time down the line.
Cesar Abadia-Reda 6: Liked the other substitutes, did well not to ruin it for the Herons, but didn’t make a significant difference either.
