Drake Callender Earns Another Shot With USMNT

It’s not the first time Callender has been called up for a camp with the national team.

He was on the bench for an international friendly against Mexico in April and the Concacaf Nations League finals and semifinals in June.

Callender also earned a call-up for an international friendly against Oman in September.

However, the recurring theme in all of those call-ups was that Callender never made it to the pitch… he was on the bench for all of those matches.

He was not part of the team that fell short of the 2023 Gold Cup, nor part of the squad that took on Trinidad & Tobago in the Concacaf Nations League quarterfinals.

On the club level, Callender has been with Inter Miami since the side acquired his homegrown player rights from San Jose Earthquakes in 2019.

He was loaned out to Fort Lauderdale in 2021 before returning to Inter Miami II at the end of the 2021 season.

At the end of the season, he was transferred back to the Inter Miami senior side after spending time with Inter Miami II.

Throughout his Major League Soccer playing time, Callender has been in 57 matches — notching nine clean-sheet performances.

Last season, he was third in the league in saves with 122… earning a 69.7% save percentage in league matches.

He helped Inter Miami win the 2023 Leagues Cup with two clean sheets in seven matches.
