Finally! Luis Suarez Signs With Inter Miami
How Luis Suarez Fits Into Inter Miami
The biggest answer to the question is that by signing Suarez, Inter Miami has built a contingent of former Barcelona legends and is betting that their experience will prop up the Herons as they seek the MLS Cup playoffs and Concacaf Champions Cup glory.
If you expect Suarez to compete in every match, that’s not likely going to happen.
At 36 and with a recurring knee injury, Suarez will likely be used sparingly during the 2024 season.
Fortunately, Inter Miami has built up solid options in attack so as not to need Suarez every match.
Leonardo Campana is still solidified as the team’s more, full-time, No. 9 along with Finland international Robert Taylor, Argentine youth Facundo Farias and Messi.
What Inter Miami has done is build a roster with tons of championship experience coupled with strong youth.
On the attack, Inter Miami seems about as solid as any team in Major League Soccer. They also have enough star power to make opponents somewhat nervous when they face the Herons.
The biggest challenge for manager Tata Martino is maintaining a strong balance between the experience and youth all while providing a much stronger attacking presence than Inter Miami has had before.
Now, if they would only start reinforcing the leaky defense, we’d see a much more complete roster.
But, that’s just my opinion.
