Help Wanted: Inter Miami In Search Of Class Defender

By all accounts, Inter Miami has shored up its offense with the off-season signings of Luis Suarez and Julian Gressel. Not, it’s time to focus on the defense to make a run at the 2024 MLS Cup playoffs.

Tata Martino Acknowledges More To Be Done For Inter Miami

In a news conference over the weekend, Inter Miami boss Tata Martino was asked about the club’s strategy moving forward in the transfer window.

His answer excited me:

To summarize, Martino admitted that with the departure of Kamal Miller, Inter Miami has a big gap to fill in central defense.

That would be a priority in the remaining transfer window time for the club.

He also suggested that it wasn’t out of the realm of possibility for other players to leave the club before the transfer window ends.

Also, very encouraging.

Inter Miami is still carrying a lot of weight on its roster and I think some pieces should be moved before the season kicks off in February (more on that in a later post).

One thing to keep in mind is that Inter Miami will not only play in the MLS regular season but the Concacaf Champions Cup, U.S. Open Cup and the 2024 Leagues Cup.

That’s a lot of competition, but it doesn’t mean Inter Miami needs a bloated side to compete.

First things first… Inter Miami needs to put the pedal to the metal and pick up at least one central defender and do it fast before the market dries up.

But, that’s just my opinion.
