Inter Miami Finally Signs A Defensive Player
Inter Miami Needed A Center-Back… Now It Has One
After a 0-0 draw at El Salvador, the defensive woes of the past for Inter Miami weren’t rearing their ugly heads.
However, following a 1-0 friendly loss at FC Dallas earlier this week, it became glaringly obvious what the Herons were lacking: a back-line presence.
Yeah, watching Jesus Ferreira weave through the entire Inter Miami backline and score around, not one, not two, but three Inter Miami players should have lit a fire under player personnel.
It did.
Inter Miami picked up Argentinian center-back Nicolas Freire on loan from Liga MX side UNAM Pumas for the entire 2024 season.
The 29-year-old will be expected to fill the gap left by the exodus of Canadian international center-back Kamal Miller — who left the squad to join Portland Timbers earlier in the transfer window.
He should provide another option alongside veteran Sergii Kryvtsov and Argentine youth international Tomas Aviles.
He is the third signing for Inter Miami during the transfer window after the Herons inked Luis Suarez and Julian Gressel earlier.
