Lionel Messi’s signing with Inter Miami is going to dwarf just about any other signing made by any other team in Major League Soccer this transfer period.

But that isn’t stopping the rumor mills from churning out other potential signings for the Herons.

Goal.com reporter Emmet Gates has revealed Inter Miami may be in line to sign CA Colon attacking midfielder Facundo Farias in the coming weeks.

Let’s look at who Farias is and how he’s performed.

Farias Plays Several Attacking Roles for Colon

Farias has played with CA Colon for his entire, yet brief, career.

He started in 2019 with the squad’s U20 team before being promoted to CA Colon II.

In the 2020/2021 season, Farias was bumped up to the first squad that plays in Liga Professional in Argentina.

The Santa Fe, Argentina product has had limited exposure on the first team with just seven appearances and one assist during his time with the top team.

His main position is attacking midfield, but he also can play in the center or as a left-wing attacker.

A majority of Farias’ experience came at the youth level where he has nearly 90 appearances since joining the U20 squad.

According to the report, Inter Miami will pony up $2 million to CA Colon and the Argentine side will collect additional fees if Farias is sold later on.

Where Farias Fits With Inter Miami

While he might be considered “highly rated” in Argentina, Farias has very little experience, so a reserve role would be the best he would do at this point.

It’s more likely Farias will be assigned to Inter Miami CF II, the squad’s MLS Next Pro side — the third tier of American soccer.

There, he will be able to showcase talent, grow and gain additional match experience before a potential call-up to the first team.

He could be a nice addition to Federico Higuain’s side.
