After just one exhibition game, Inter Miami has already lost a key component of a team built to help bring more hardware to South Florida.

Inter Miami’s Midfielder Out For the Season

In the second half of their first exhibition match of the season, Inter Miami midfielder Facundo Farias sustained an ACL injury that will keep him out for the entire season.

After coming in as a substitute for Inter Miami, Farias went down in apparent pain, grabbing his left knee.

Updates from team physicians confirmed that the Argentinian midfielder sustained a left ACL injury that likely requires surgery and will keep the attacker out of the roster for the entire season.

Look, I understand the rationale for exhibition matches.

Promote your brand and give your players even more time to acclimate to each other before the start of the regular season.

They make sense.

But, I have to question the level of play in an exhibition match that would cause a big piece of the Inter Miami puzzle to sustain such a terrible injury.

Farias, who signed with Inter Miami from Atletico Colon under a U-22 initiative deal, was gunning to be a potential starter as an attacker for Inter Miami and showed extreme promise at the position.

In his first 13 matches with the club, Farias notched three goals and two assists in helping Inter Miami win the 2023 Leagues Cup and reach the finals of the 2023 U.S. Open Cup.
