Lionel Messi Back With Argentina
In perhaps the least surprising call-up for Inter Miami, forward Lionel Messi will play with World Cup champions Argentina in their slate of 2026 World Cup qualifiers this month.
Argentina will first host Uruguay at 7 p.m. on November 16 at La Bombonera in Buenos Aires.
They’ll follow that up with perhaps the biggest matchup of the window when they travel to Rio de Janeiro to take on rivals Brazil at 7:30 p.m. November 21.
Messi has already notched 178 total caps for La Albiceleste and recorded a record 106 goals for his country.
Argentina currently leads the CONMEBOL standings with 12 points from four matches — recording four wins.
Uruguay, Brazil and Venezuela are tied for second with seven points — each team picking up two wins a draw and a defeat from their first four matches.
Columbia rounds out the top five in the group with six points in four matches.
