Inter Miami Postseason Plans Become Clear

A canceled tour, a friendly match and no postseason. It's already been an interesting postseason for Inter Miami, but it just became clearer what the plans are.

No China, No Problem for Inter Miami

If you remember a week ago, Inter Miami’s travel plans to China were upended by what amounts to just poor planning.

The Herons were slated to face Quigdao Hainiu and Chengdu Rongcheng in a pair of friendly matches with the Chinese Super League pair in China.

The idea was for Inter Miami to showcase Messi and the squad in hopes of generating a new base of fans outside the United States.

For better or worse (in this case, better) the entire trip to Asia was called off for “various reasons.”

We’re not really sure what “various reasons” there were, but I never thought it was a bad thing that the Herons weren’t going to the Far East in the postseason.

Yes, there is a massive fanbase just looking for someone or some team to cheer for. And, yes, Inter Miami could fit that bill, especially with Messi on the roster.

But the risk of playing sub-par (even by MLS standards) teams and risk of long-term injury to star players was just too great to make this a fruitful expedition.

So, no harm and no foul for the cancelation of the trip to Asia.

But it left a pretty big void in the schedule for Inter Miami.

Until now.
