Inter Miami, Messi Should Go To Barcelona

In an interview with El Club del Deportista, via Marca, Inter Miami co-owner Jorge Mas understood that Messi didn’t leave the club he spent 21 years at under the best of terms.

"Messi’s departure from Barcelona was not to his liking, he could not say goodbye to his club that welcomed him as a child, and I think the circumstances were not what Lionel wanted."

He may not have shown it, but Messi was likely devastated over his move from Spain to France.

But Mas went a step further to suggest he will work to give Messi the chance to say goodbye to Barcelona the right way.

Despite coming to Inter Miami to invigorate soccer in North America and set himself above others as one of the greatest players to ever play the game, there is a lack of peace for Messi for not being able to leave his long-time club the way others have.

The idea here would be for Inter Miami to play Barcelona in some kind of a friendly match once the new Spotify Camp Nou stadium is reopened — it is undergoing renovations.

This would give Messi the perfect opportunity to bid the club and its fans the farewell they both deserve from a player who dedicated over half his life to.

I think it’s a great gesture and one that Messi and Inter Miami fans should be happy to be a part of.

Roll on, La Familia, roll on.
