Inter Miami's preseason friendly in Hong Kong draws sky-high ticket prices, reaching up to $1,500 per ticket.

It didn’t take long for tickets to Inter Miami’s preseason friendly against the Hong Kong All Stars to sell out, according to media reports.

The Inter Miami Hong Kong Sell-Out

It appears the high prices of seeing Messi and Inter Miami didn’t turn anyone off to paying as tickets to the match after they were posted.

Now, they are being posted on a re-selling site for more than $1,500 for each ticket.

Aside from watching Messi, fans were apparently drawn in by the potential of former Messi teammate Luis Suarez joining Inter Miami and coming to Hong Kong.

The problem here is that there is certainly no guarantee that Messi will even play in Hong Kong.

Inter Miami want to focus on what will be an extremely hectic domestic schedule with the Major League Soccer regular season starting sometime in February and the 2024 Concacaf Champions Cup — featuring Inter Miami — starting around the same time.

Plus, the preseason schedule for Inter Miami isn’t light by any stretch of the imagination.

It starts in January with a trip to El Salvador followed by two dates in Saudi Arabia, then Hong Kong and, finally, Japan.

All in the period of just a few weeks before the MLS regular season starts.

It’s a lot to ask for a player like Messi who has been dogged with injury.

Don’t get me wrong, it shows a lot of support for Inter Miami to draw ticket prices like that and to sell out in an hour in a country they’ve never been before.

I just hope these fans in Hong Kong aren’t banking on seeing the Messi magic and aren’t disappointed if they don’t see it.
