Inter Miami signs new goalkeeper due to CJ dos Santos injury
With less than five months to end the MLS regular season, Inter Miami has signed Argentine goalkeeper Oscar Ustari. The 38-year-old goalkeeper joins the team to replace the injured CJ Dos Santos. The Herons signed Ustari for a four-month contract, meaning he will stay in the club until the end of the season.
In the need to find a new goalkeeper due to the broken hand of CJ, the Herons decided Ustari was the best option among the free agents to secure the GK2 position.
Last season, Oscar Ustari played 13 games in Chile's first division. Playing 1,145 minutes, the former Boca Juniors player had 18 conceded goals and had five clean sheets in those games.
Is this a good deal for Inter Miami?
Considering he's going to get a few minutes in the field. I think this is a good move for Miami for two reasons. The first one is his contract length. Inter Miami assures themselves a solid goalkeeper with many years of experience, but only until the end of the season. It means that once CJ gets back on track after his injury, Ustari won't have a contract.
The second reason is that with few options in the market, Ustari is a decent free agent to sign. Playing with Messi, both Argentine players will get along. With his experience, he could guide CJ Dos Santos to improve his level and fight for a chance to make it as a GK1.
¿Do you think this is a good move for Inter Miami, knowing you need to fill the GK2 spot?
