Latest Inter Miami Rumor Ties Herons to Brazilian Midfielder

I mean, really, if it is an aging European footballer close to being out of contract it’s likely they’ll be tied to a move to Inter Miami “to reunite” or “to join” Lionel Messi.

Another Player I Like, But Does Inter Miami Need Him?

The latest rumor comes via AS which suggests former Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho is on the radar of Inter Miami management.

Coutinho is on a season-long loan at Al-Duhail in Qatar from Premier League side Aston Villa.

Since arriving on loan, Coutinho has managed just six appearances for the outlet — suggesting he’s either struggling to find form or he just doesn’t fit in the system.

What gives this rumor gas is that Coutinho and current Inter Miami winger Lionel Messi shared the pitch for a spell at Barcelona.

But, during his time at Barcelona, Coutinho spent a good amount on loan.

He was loaned to Bayern Munich in 2019 and Aston Villa in 2022 — before the loan deal became permanent.

Prior to that, Coutinho signed his first professional contract with Internazionale in Italy before being loaned to Vasco da Gama in Brazil… in all fairness, it was Vasco who Inter signed Coutinho from in the first place.

During his stint in Italy, Coutinho was loaned out to Espanyol in Spain before joining Liverpool in 2013.

But, Coutinho has plenty of hardware to boast about, including a Champions League trophy in 2020 with Bayern Munich, two Spanish Cups and two La Liga titles with Barcelona along with an Italian Super Cup and Coppa Italia with Internazionale.

He also played a part in helping Brazil win both the 2011 U20 World Cup and the 2019 Copa America with the senior side.

Coutinho has played in the Champions League eight times, scoring 12 goals and another three goals in three trips to the Europa League.
