Nine Inter Miami players nominated for MLS postseason awards

Major League Soccer announced end-of-season award nominations last week; Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba all received nods.

Who else did Inter Miami nominate?

Some Inter Miami nominees are more deserving: Drake Callender for Goalkeeper of the Year, for example. Kamal Miller for Defender of the Year and Benjamin Cremaschi as Young Player of the Year are justified.

It’s one thing to make frivolous nominations, quite another to make frivolous awards. So how are Major League Soccer’s postseason awards selected? Three groups vote for the winners: current MLS players; MLS coaches and general managers or technical directors; and “select” media members representing local and national outlets who consistently covered the 2023 MLS regular season — I’m still waiting for my ballot….

Voting starts Tuesday, Oct. 10, and ends Oct. 23, shortly after Decision Day (Saturday, Oct. 21, the end of the MLS regular season).

Fans will be able to vote on the top plays of the season with both the AT&T 5G Goal of the Year and MLS Save of the Year presented by Allstate by casting their votes on MLSsoccer.com.
