PSG Chief’s Dig At Inter Miami’s Lionel Messi Unwarranted

The president of Lionel Messi’s former club made a subtle dig at the exit of the current Inter Miami star. We take a little umbrage at that.

Digging At Lionel Messi and Neymar Jr.

During a news conference, Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi poked at losing both Lionel Messi to Inter Miami and Neymar Jr. to Saudi Arabia.

Both left Paris — with Messi joining Inter Miami in July and Neymar departing for the riches of the desert not long after.

He was asked about the future of the team's only star, Kylian Mbappe.

"Kylian Mbappe is an incredible player and a fantastic person. And the Paris Saint-Germain team, on and off the pitch, has never been so united, which I think was possible to see last weekend, during the game against Lyon."

Nasser Al-Khelaifi, PSG president

Yeah, I get it. Al-Khelaifi is suggesting that the team is better without Messi and Neymar Jr. on its roster.

Not for nothing, but I wanted to throw in this dig from Irish fans who traveled to Parc Des Princes (PSG’s home ground) for a Euro qualifier against France:

Did you not think the world didn’t notice your fans treating the likes of Messi and Neymar like garbage at the conclusion of last season?

Here’s a quick scoreboard check:

  • Number of UEFA Champions League titles for Lionel Messi — 4.
  • Number of UEFA Champions League titles for PSG — 0.

In fact, the only titles PSG has won are in France… which isn’t a bastion of soccer prowess when compared to England, Spain, Italy or Germany.

But, we appreciate PSG showing up. We have some nice parting gifts for you.
