Inter Miami has one of the most complete rosters in MLS. With a balance between superstars and young talents, the Herons have become a powerhouse in American soccer. Nonetheless, Miami needs to protect its gems from other clubs.

Diego Gomez, one of the best players in the team, has been sold to the Premier League. The Paraguayan will join Brighton in January.

Why do I bring the case of Diego Gomez? Because River Plate, one of the top clubs in Argentina, is interested in signing Federico Redondo. Marcelo Gallardo, the new coach of River, wants the midfielder for a long or short-term deal.

Is this a good move for Inter Miami?

Fede Redondo came to the club as a massive prospect. Inter Miami won the bid for the midfield against clubs like FC Barcelona and Real Madrid. However, since joining the club, the Argentinian player has struggled with injuries that forced him to step aside for recovery. Because of this, Redondo only played 15 matches with Inter Miami, scoring two goals and providing two assists.

The problem with Redondo is the hype he brought at the start of the season. His signing created more expectations than the super striker Luis Suarez. While playing for Argentinos Juniors, Fede showed an incredible level and technique that was supposed to dominate the MLS.

But his story with Inter Miami was the opposite. The 21-year-old player never fully developed his potential, ending with him in and out of the starting lineup in football.

Miami needs to make Redondo a crucial player in the starting lineup. But if River Plate delivers an offer for the player, Inter Miami should reconsider the chance of selling him.

In other words, if the Argentinian club puts the right amount on the table, the Herons should sell him.
