Azcona, 19, has previously represented the Dominican Republic at the U-20, U-23 and senior levels. In 2022, he was a key member of the Dominican Republic’s historic run at the 2022 Concacaf U-20 Championship, earning the nation’s first-ever qualifications for a FIFA U-20 World Cup and the Summer Olympics. This year, he played in the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup — the Dominican Republic’s first World Cup at any level — and made history by scoring the country’s historic first goal at any World Cup.

At the club level, Azcona was the second Inter Miami CF Academy graduate to have signed with the First Team as a Homegrown Player in 2021 and became the first Academy product to feature for the First Team in MLS, debuting in a regular season road match against Nashville SC as a substitute. So far during the 2023 MLS regular season, Azcona has appeared in five games.
