The Daily Heron: At least six Inter Miami players called up for international duty, three make Matchday team

Defender Sergii Kryvtsov has been called up to the Ukrainian national team for its upcoming 2024 UEFA Euro qualifying matches against England at noon ET Saturday in Wrocław, Poland, and Italy at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12, in Milan.
On the international arena, Kryvtsov represented Ukraine's youth sides before making his debut for the nation’s senior side in 2011, notably Ukraine’s U-19 side that clinched the UEFA European Under-19 Championship in 2009; he started and played the full 90 minutes in each of the team’s five matches in the competition. The defender has played 32 times for Ukraine’s senior side, including twice in UEFA Euro 2020 and five matches in the UEFA Nations League. He has one international assist.
The 32-year-old center-back has registered 28 appearances across all competitions to date since joining Inter Miami in January, registering an assist and a goal. Most recently, Kryvtsov started all seven matches of the Leagues Cup and recorded his first assist Inter Miami in the semifinals.
The Herons will join their national teams after Inter Miami plays at LAFC at 10 p.m. ET on Sept. 3.
Inter Miami, like other MLS teams and clubs around the world, will have to juggle their lineups until their players return from international duty. But this international window and the one coming up in October couldn’t happen at a worse time; Inter Miami has 11 league matches remaining to make up 11 points in the standings and squeak into the playoffs.
