The Daily Heron: Messi golazo, Cremaschi call-up, Ulloa’s leadership and Ronaldo on Messi rivalry

Tell us the truth, fans, should we just change this irregular regular feature’s name to “The Daily Messi”? Enh, it’s probably taken. We will, for now and forever, remain The Daily Heron, a roundup of news about — allegedly — Club Internacional de Futbol Miami. Let’s get to it:

Ronaldo insists his rivalry with Messi is OVER

Comments by Cristiano Ronaldo, who for 15 seasons battled with Real Madrid for La Liga supremacy against Barcelona and Lionel Messi, have left me a little confused. I thought the rivalry ended when Messi won the World Cup with Argentina last year and CR7 was falling out of favor at Manchester United.

"Those who like Cristiano Ronaldo don't have to hate Messi and vice versa. We've done well, we have changed the history of football…I'm not saying we're friends, I've never had dinner with him, but we're professional colleagues and we respect each other."

Cristiano Ronaldo

Call me crazy, but wouldn’t it be something if these two great footballers did become friends as they prepare for life after their playing days, a la the NBA’s Larry Bird and Magic Johnson? Of course, Messi is Magi….
