DRV PNK Stadium Draws International Friendly

Just because Inter Miami won’t be in the MLS Cup playoffs doesn’t mean soccer stops in Ft. Lauderdale.

The U.S. Women’s National Team will take on China in an international friendly at DRV PNK Stadium on Dec. 2 to close out the 2023 international break.

Three days later, the USWNT will play China… again… in Frisco, Texas.

Yeah, I don’t know why they play the same opponent in back-to-back matches, but I don’t work for the USWNT scheduling department, so it is what it is.

According to the Miami Herald, this marks just the second time the USWNT will play a match at DRV PNK Stadium, but it will be the 58th time they’ve played China — including the 1996 Olympic gold medal match and in the 1999 World Cup — both times the U.S. won.

Just to add to the numbers game, it will be the first time the two sides have played each other in five years.

But the biggest thing here is that could be the first match where the USWNT has a new head coach following the resignation of Vlatko Andonovski following the 2023 World Cup.
