Luis Suarez Is Still On The Calendar for Inter Miami

When Lionel Messi first signed with Inter Miami back in July followed by Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba, the rumor mill went nuts.

There was all kinds of speculation over who the next former Barcelona star would come to South Florida and reunite with the old guard.

One name rose to the top of the list… former Barcelona and Liverpool star Luis Suarez.

We wrote about the rumor ad nauseam (for reference, here, here and here are the most recent mentions).

There’s nothing to suggest that this deal won’t come to fruition in January as Suarez will officially be out of contract with his current club, Brazilian side Gremio.

That was the sticking point the whole time.

I have little doubt that Suarez wanted to join Inter Miami much sooner than January, but his contract with Gremio didn’t expire until the end of the Brazilian season… which is January.

And Gremio’s owners were not able to let their star player out of the deal, under any circumstances.

Now the season is over and Suarez did not renew his contract in Brazil. That paves the way for Inter Miami to pick up the forward during the January transfer window.

That’s all well and good, but a new legend has come on the rumor radar for Inter Miami in January… and it’s pretty big.
