Three Up, Three Down: Busquets’ quick thinking leads to Farías’ winning goal against Sporting Kansas City
Three Up
Sergio Busquets, A
[KEN] Busquets, a former Spain international, is regularly described as a "soccer genius," praised for his great "soccer IQ," as a player who has remade the role of defensive midfielder. La Rosa Negra played well Saturday, but it was Busquets who turned in the play of the match.
While Sporting's players argued a handball call against Kansas City, Busquets quickly took the ball from the referee, placed it on the ground and booted it to a wide open Farias streaking down the right side of the field. The surprise service put Farias in one-on-one on SKC goalie Tim Melia, who didn't have a chance. Farias calmly struck the ball into the net, giving Inter Miami a 3-1 lead in the 60th minute.
[MATT] There really isn't enough you can say about Busquets and his play and impact for Inter Miami since joining in July. He was billed as a solid complement to Messi, but he's turned into much more than that.
Ken is certainly right about Busquets and his soccer IQ, which was certainly on display against Sporting Kansas City -- just when Inter Miami needed it the most.
