On paper, Inter Miami's team possessed fair quality; in reality, several players were coming back from injury or the international break and the side lacked the chemistry, communication or connectedness honed over hundreds or thousands of minutes playing as a unit. "The Crown" (as some prefer to call Charlotte FC) pressured Inter Miami all night but were -- like the Herons -- indecisive in the final third. The tie was a just result. Just not the one we hoped for.
These same teams meet again beginning at 6 p.m. ET Saturday, Oct. 21, on turf at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte. Lionel Messi, Robert Taylor, Benjamin Cremaschi and the other players returning from international play should be well-rested for the season finale. Let's hope for a final serving of "o jogo bonito" La Rosanegra style!
