Inter Miami defeated Orlando City 3-1 in a game that became a rollercoaster of emotions. Without Javier Mascherano on the bench, the Herons jumped into the field with their usual 4-2-3-1.
Before the Sunshine derby, Marco Reus told reporters that Lionel Messi still dominates this game like he did in Europe, and the German legend wasn’t wrong.
With a penalty kick and a goal, the team’s captain left Inter Miami leading the match against the Lions. However, the biggest surprise of all was the fact that the Herons missed Tadeo Allende on the field.
Tadeo Allende proved everyone wrong
Before this encounter, many people, including me, wanted to change Allende from the starting lineup. For many games, the Argentine footballer made the right runs, but his way of finishing the plays wasn’t the correct one.
That’s why anyone with common sense wanted Allende to be a substitute until his performance on the field improved. However, I suppose many of us were mistaken.
Inter Miami found themselves with a difficult game on offense. With De Paul playing a little deeper, helping Sergio Busquets and Yannick Bright, the Herons ended up with Baltasar Rodriguez, Luis Suarez, and Messi up front.
Rodriguez stayed on the sidelines, and with Fray’s sporadic forward runs, the Herons were missing that guy who wanted to get the ball or run to the space.
And that's the role of Tadeo Allende. While it may not be the most glamorous, and he often faces more chances to make mistakes, his contribution is crucial to the team's overall functionality.
With ten minutes into the game, the former Celta de Vigo player made a run into the box, which ended up in a penalty kick that gave Inter Miami the chance to tie the game.
Allende proved instrumental in Inter Miami's victory over Orlando City. His intelligent runs into space, off-the-ball movement, and strong presence in the box make him a highly effective offensive option, especially when Messi or Suarez are tightly marked.
He needs to continue working on this path if he wants to regain the fans' respect.
