A legend return. The record man for Inter Miami is back. That's right, Gonzalo "El Pipa" Higuain is home. The Argentinian striker will be part of the staff run by his brother Federico Higuain at Inter Miami academy. The former Real Madrid player will guide the future gems that join the first team. In some more technical words, he will be the development coach for young players at the Herons Academy.

The legendary striker played for the best teams in Europe. Teams like Real Madrid, Juventus, Napoli, Chelsea, and AC Milan, but at a little over 30 years old and with no place in Europe, Higuain decided to try and play in the MLS. He joined Inter Miami in 2020. Pipita played for the Herons for two years until his retirement in January 2023.

What numbers did Higuain leave on Inter Miami?

He played for three years, 2020/21/22. During that time, Higuain played 70 games, scoring 29 goals and delivering 11 assists. Those numbers were enough to give him two records in the club.

The first record Higuain got was becoming the player with the most goals in a single season for Inter Miami. What's incredible is that he achieved that mark the last year he played professionally. The year was 2022, and he scored 16 goals that season.

On the 2nd of October, that record no longer belongs to Higuain. The record holder for most goals in a single season is Luis Suarez. The Pistolero scored 21 goals in 31 games with the Herons this season to surpass Gonzalo's mark.

The second record Higuain achieved playing for Inter Miami is becoming the club's goalscorer. As I said before, Higuain played 70 games and scored 29 goals. Those goals turned him into the football player with the most goals in the history of Inter Miami.

However, a few weeks back, that record belonged to Leonardo Campana. The striker achieved that goal by scoring 31 goals in 96 games. The 24-year-old player surpassed the Argentinian by two goals, although Campana got this record by playing 26 more games than Higuain.

What's remarkable is that Messi is right about the corner for that record. The 2022 World Cup champion is one goal away from beating Higuain's mark.

Who are the other staff members who will spend time with Gonzalo Higuain?

Federico Higuain, his brother, is the head coach of the Inter Miami Academy. Cristian Ledesma, a former River plate-like Higuain, is the assistant coach. And finally, Guillermo Hoyos, former Boca Juniors, is the director of development and methodology.

Will Gonzalo Higuain perform in this new and strange area as he performed in the field?
