Lionel Messi leads Inter Miami’s big earners in the latest salary breakdown

Inter Miami is two days away from facing Nashville SC in the second game  of the playoff series. The Herons have the advantage, as they beat the Boys in Gold 3-1 at Chase Stadium.

Now, Las Garzas must put all their focus on the second game of the series and qualify for the next round.

Aside from the great footballistic moment the squad is living, behind the curtains, Inter Miami is also doing its homework. Last week, the Herons extended Lionel Messi’s contract for three more years.

But also secured Yannick Bright with a long-term deal until 2028, with an option for one more year. Nevertheless, with the season almost ending, the official page of the MLS Players' Association has updated the salary numbers for the Herons squad. You could find surprises among the Top 10.

It is no surprise that Lionel Messi has the highest salary in the squad and the MLS. Anyone who thought differently should take a look at the sport with a little more awareness.

However, some fans argue that Messi's salary is excessive compared to other top players such as Thomas Müller or Heung-Min Son.

The truth is that Messi generates much more revenue than any other player; that’s why it takes a significant investment to keep the Herons captain playing in the MLS.

But enough talking about other players, if you are here, you want to know who the nine highest-paid players at Inter Miami are.

Right behind our number 10, we find Sergio Busquets with a base salary of $8.5 million and $8.7 million of guaranteed compensation.

Considering the recent signing of Rodrigo De Paul, one could assume the Argentine midfielder was the second-highest paid athlete in the Herons, but as a matter of fact, and unlike the Spanish player, De Paul is not under a DP contract, which is why he needs to be sustained to the MLS regulation salary cap.

The Top 3 is complete with the other Spanish legend, Jordi Alba, with a base salary of $6 million and a guaranteed compensation of $6 million.
